Clay Sylvana
(by Tobias , Nov 14, 2004 )
Sylvana 's character as a clay figure ^-^ I started with the head, and then with the body so it was a bit awkward to make - usually I could just lay her down, on her side if I needed to form the paws or the tail (the feet didn't hold until they got dry) .. until I started with her ears (from then on I could just hold it in my hands anymore XP)
Painted with acrylic colours .. she tiptoes, but it's tough to see because of the wool ^-^

Clay Sylvana - Comments
It's extremly adorable Toby, You did a great job with the clay, I could never do that *pats* <3 Better than I could do with clay.
But I can make something in clay better than you...clay balls! X3
Heh, how did you happen to find that one? I merely put it up like, one hour ago and didn't even put it on the front page yet X3
Glad you like it. Meh, don't worry, I'm sure you could do just as good if you try .. maybe you should make a couple of clay figures too? =3
Clay balls, yay *giggles* Now all you need to do it make a bit of room for the eyes on your clay ball, put up a nose, and ears, and you'd have the head already ;3
Wow, that's even better than I had imagined! The eyes, the pose, everything looks pretty much like your drawing style, only in 3-D, which really makes it special. ^-^ At first I wasn't sure how you could make the earriengs without them being too fragile and falling off, but from the looks of it you got them just right, and looking nice and sturdy too. Awesome job =3
Hi Lenore,
Thanks heaps for your nice words, they mean a lot to me <3 The ear-rings aren't actually rings, they're just little clay balls with a cut (kind of like pac-man .. so they'd hold better) I stuck to the ears, and painted golden. Now that the clay is try, it's not too fragile anymore, her hair is probably most fragile, but if it falls off, I'd simply glue it on again =3
Tobias
You're very welcome <3 I figured they were something like that, since they looked pretty thick..cut it works, right? Besides, not all ear-rings are rings, some are just little balls. X3 Hope it doesn't fall off, then Sylvana would be bald X.x But then of course it can glue back on. ^^
Heh, yup, it sure works ;P Plus, Sylvana's only around 3,2 inches tall in clay, so it's not that appearant. Yup, I hope so too .. but actually they look pretty stable right now, so I doubt they'd fall off ^-^ (Besides, it looked pretty cute being bald too ;3 ). Heh, well noticed, in any case <3
whoa! I love the shine on her jewelry! As if they were real! :D Hehe, You could work on the smoothness on your clay bodies, and work on painting less scribbly and wobbly. Nicely done though.
heh, yup, I'm sure I'll get better in that, eventually =3 The smoothness looks better in real life, since the clay figure isn't that big to start with, but colouring I have a hard time with the brush ;P
Ack, why did it take me so long to notice this section? That looks so awesome Tobers, you can really make your drawings more life like and 3d with out paper too! The same cute eye look you draw out is with her, the well done anatomy, just way cute, I wish I noticed it sooner! X3
